Due to sensitivity and the potential for this type of crime to have major negative ramifications to corporations it is important that investigations into this type of crime are conducted by a trained forensic team. IPP investigators are ex-Police and are highly trained in investigating these types of crimes and are able to liaise with Police on behalf of victimised companies.

Industrial extortion covers a wide area of corporate intimidation, not least the areas of product extortion, which could have serious public relation outcomes for companies victimised by this crime. If not managed product extortion can cost a corporation hundreds of millions of dollars in product recall, with limited insurance recovery; similarly the security sealing, rebranding of the product and the subsequent re-badging and promotion can run to millions of additional dollars.

Working with the Police we advise corporations on the best method in which to handle extortion attempts, at the same time paying particular attention to the risks of non-public disclosure in relation to product contamination.
