VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT

IPP’s experience in this sector spans over 15 years. Our IT technology group has delivered solutions and consultancy services for LAN/WAN network infrastructure to complete data centre strategies and data centre design and construction, working both on our own and with business delivery partners as appropriate.

Project 1

When this government department moved to refurbished premises at 2 Treasury Place, IPP Consulting was engaged, with our associates tt/partners, to project manage the relocation of all IT associated elements. This involved relocating approximately 1,000 departmental staff from the Rialto site, to new premises in the Treasury precinct, including the relocation of the entire Data Centre.

IPP also designed, tendered and managed the installation of the LAN, which at the time was the largest ATM LAN site in Australia.

Project 2

IPP was engaged to define the data centre requirements and prepare the solution design for the Whole of Victorian Government (WoVG) Data Centre Consolidation Project. Working together with our associate’s tt/partners, this project delivered strategies and design solutions enabling the Victorian Government to consolidate its Data Centres, thereby saving many millions of dollars in expenditure annually.

IPP’s involvement initially involved workshopping, negotiating and consolidating multi-departmental requirements into a common WoVG Data Centre requirements document, followed by tendering duties, and ended with reviewing and inspecting tendered sites, culminating in award of tender to primary and secondary sites.

Project 3

IPP Consulting was engaged by this department to prepare a Disaster Recovery (DR) Plan for the IT systems operating in the Treasury Precinct. The DR Plan identified critical IT systems and associated infrastructure for incorporation into the DR plan, through stakeholder interviews and review of existing documentation.

The overall DR strategy prepared by IPP included recommendations for implementation strategies and priorities, DR management procedures, budget estimates and an implementation program.

IPP has subsequently project managed the establishment of a DR site, which consisted of the fit-out of a 100m2 computer room in Collins Street, Melbourne. IPP Consulting designed the cabling infrastructure, and prepared the scope of building works together with the engineering services brief for the room. IPP also engaged the services engineers, architect and building surveyor, and supervised the refurbishment of the room to ensure it met the requirements of the DR plan.
