TELEMEDICINE

Telemedicine has surged in popularity recently due to the higher bandwidths now available from the broadband providers. The new video conferencing packages allow patients to ill or weak to travel to have access to expert medical analysis from central locations. Rural patients have directly benefited from this, saving hours in travel to and from hospital for routine visits. Doctors are able to send test results, medical imaging and have “face to face” contact with their patients, without the risk of moving them across vast distances.

Video Conferencing systems now are capable of sending images in the resolutions required for medical imaging, and High Definition Video gives patients and medical staff a scene as realistic as if they were there. New software packages available allow the simultaneous streaming of video and content, in some cases allowing medical practitioners to present directly over the content (much in the same way a weather presenter would).

This new technology is in a rapid development phase, and IPP are working with medical institutions to tailor packages to suit the medical sector. As a leader in the industry, IPP have the experience and product knowledge to deliver a specialised system for the medical field, ensuring that above all, the welfare of the patient comes first.
